All plants frozen, and some sort of white powder on the ground. It was not snow, but he understodd it had to do with the low temperature.
Will the plants ever revitalize?
At breakfast, another disappointment occurred when they wanted to eat some leftovers from the Spookey Day party. All guests brought food, and the fridge was packed with leftovers.
Maybe they simply need a better fridge?
Nobody wanted to be outside, and Godrian found it was warmer in rooms with few windows. He decided to paint a little in the office.
The cat, Mishu, had captured a lizard, and brought it in as a gift to Godrian. Hm, maybe it was a rare creature that the Science facility would pay for?
A little later Richelle joined Godrian in the office. They had to make plans for Greench Farm. Now that Godrian's dad, Archie, is dead, there is nobody that will protest to their plans.
Even if Galucca grows the specie, if Greench Farm manages to deliver crops of better quality, there should be ways to succeed. So maybe grapes would be it? Godrian's granny, Greta, once planted various grapes on the farm, because she wanted to produce nectar. She never got to producing anything, but some of the plants are still there.
Godrian decided to walk over to the Science Facility to hand over the lizard. Even if it was a freezing cold day, it was better to deal with this kind of matters now that he couldn't do much on the farm, anyway. His friend Pahomas welcomed him at the entrance.
Pahomas invited Godrian into the lab.
The pumpkins? Didn't Godrian harvest one of them at the Town Square some time ago? And didn't he also keep some seeds?
Godrian walked back home, found the pumpkin seeds and stored them in a safe place, awaiting warmer days.
In the evening the little delegation that had been visiting Town of Galucca, returned. Richelle and Godrian walked down to Richelle's folks in Sunrise Valley, and they brought little Bonnie. Both Richelle's dad, Alex, as well as her cousin, Reynar Yea-Low, had visited the other world!
There were so many questions in the air, in fact they didn't really know what to ask, or what to tell. The trip had been quite overwhelming. The gifts they had bought were still in cargo, being delivered to the local store on the following day.
Dorothy Yea-Low is getting pretty old, and her answers are more often nonsense.
They told about tall buildings touching the sky, and lovely parks everywhere. The harbour was thousand times bigger than the little port here at Maccaroni Island. It was all big, but not everyone was surprised.
Irena has inherited those huge ears from her granddad Yespar Yea-Low, the original inventor and one of the settlers. Even if the Galuccians looked weird, she would probably fit inn quite well ;-)
Irena is Richelle's younger sister, still a teenager. She has already inherited this house.
They couldn't stay very late because Bonnie needed to sleep.
After going to bed, Richelle understood that the new baby was on its way! The room was cold, but if they had looked closely, they would have seen that the windows were not frozen. Richelle disliked being pregnant, but she hated giving birth even more...
A sudden end to this chapter, as the baby was born.
To be continued!
